I've found this guide in general terms useful, having used it for the first time.
I'm giving 4 starts because I have found 'The Worry Tree' exercise quite confusing - let worry go is the answer.??

The guide tells many times to speak to our GP, but in my experience GPs don't have time for our mental health issues/ worries. They just say 'try not to worry' and provide a leaflet, but that's it.

Sometimes is quite idealistic about the work situation - managers are not good listeners. I have been underpaid, overexploited in one of the most reputable universities in the country (if not the most) and they have done nothing about my workload and low salary which is the main cause of my stress. I've been trying to change my work situation for years and nothing has been donde despite the support I have received from colleagues. My work situation has led to health issues.
For that reason I'm saying the guide is quite 'idealistic' - it's almost impossible to change our working conditions. There is a big gap between what it should be done and that the reality. My workplace has nice words on paper but they are not applied in real life and we are completely powerless.
So I am doing the relaxation exercises but that doesn't change the reality.
There are useful tips that I have been doing even before reading this guide.
